about.

I believe the grandmothers had it right. They were wise to the nuance of cooking, drawing from wisdom rather than a recipe. They were the keepers of heritage— preparing food slowly, by hand, and in season.

The true creatives behind head-to-tail, farm-to-fork and sustainable, organic gardens. The beautiful women of our past understood food.

Their wisdom was honed from necessity, yet rich in tradition, rooted in heritage, celebration and community. It was a more beautiful way of being with food.

I celebrate my grandmothers.

My name is Liz, and I am the culinary creative and Founder of Farm Kitchen.

I am a graduate of the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver and the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.

My culinary training taught me that a dish cannot be elevated above the quality of its ingredients. My education in nutrition formed my obsession with how food is cultivated or raised.

I am meticulous about ingredients. Thoughtfully grown food is richer in taste, more regenerative to soils, kinder to animals, and has superior nutrient density.

But I am not perfect.

I am always learning, which means making thoughtful decisions about where my ingredients come from. At times, sourcing that one better ingredient doesn't make financial sense, so I make the next best decision. I balance local, certified organic, and regeneratively farmed labels. Better yet, I know my farmers.

I am committed to making almost everything from scratch because quality matters. Farm Kitchen is my home-based commercial kitchen in the Foothills outside of Calgary.

It's lovely to have you here.

care.

My farmers are friends, and I have come to appreciate them for the trailblazers they are. Dedicating their lives to producing the best-tasting, nutrient-dense food while figuring out how to heal the soil and the earth.

Choosing them is an amplification of what inspires me. They are the change I want to see in the world.

Here's a celebration and a shout-out to some of the farmers I use:
